The Walter P. Chrysler Museum was a car museum in Auburn Hills, Michigan, which was opened in October 1999. The museum was named after the founder of Chrysler Corporation, Walter P. Chrysler. It featured many historically significant Chrysler, Dodge, Plymouth, Jeep, AMC, Nash, Hudson, and Rambler vehicles from various eras. The museum interior was decorated by original art in the form of murals and dioramas by A. Shapiro.
The museum closed to the public due to low attendance on December 31, 2012. Its assets were sold to the Chrysler Foundation, a charitable arm of Chrysler Group, LLC.
On November 3, 2016, FCA announced that the museum will permanently close on December 18, 2016. The building will be converted to office space. The 65 cars of the collection will only be brought out for special events. Chrysler plans to put some vehicles on display at the Chrysler Technology Center and other FCA facilities.
In 2017 Maserati announced it was moving its U.S. headquarters from Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey to the former Chrysler Museum.
